Romanian Parental Education: Exploring an Emerging Field
Type de matériel :
99
The Romanian national authorities, directly or through intermediate structures, have repeatedly declared their interest in developing a national parenting education strategy to encourage and consolidate services targeting the prevention of child abuse, neglect and exploitation, dropping out of school etc., and, more generally, promoting children’s rights. The present study analyses the main four Romanian national parenting education programmes by various non-governmental organisations and their principal features : contents and curriculum, how they are organized, which methods they use and profiles of participants. Our research highlights the need to build in Romania an integrated and coherent national system of parenting education. This requires the elaboration of professional standards, developing a methodology for training, certification and parental supervision of educators and public funding for developing long-term parenting education.
