Power Game: A British Viewpoint on French Foreign Policy

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2002. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Power Games: A British View on French Foreign Policy Facing the United States, Great Britain and France share the same status of quasi world power, in that both countries must assume their political and military responsibilities in terms of security; even though they cannot directly influence the sources and developing factors of crises. As far as power is concerned, France has subordinated its foreign policy to its domestic policy for too long, and does not stand up to its speech. From a British point of view, it is thus clear that there cannot be any Europe without Great Britain, so true is it that Great Britain leads Europe in the field of defence. The double speech Paris attempted to maintain with London and Berlin – absolute defender of the nation-State and keeper of the integration flame – is not enough anymore to compensate the relative but true decline of the country. It is now time for France to adapt its behaviour to new realities.
