Supposed to improve the Union’s energy security, while being consistent with its climate ambitions, the development of hydrogen represents a credible path toward achieving the carbon neutrality objective that the Green Deal has placed on the European political agenda. Since 2020, an unprecedented series of legislative reforms shows that the development of hydrogen is set to have a major influence on the design of EU energy and climate legislation and policies.
