Since the beginnings of the Internet for the general public, the issue of digital usage support has crystallised debates and tensions between various actors. Rooted in several sectors of intervention (social work, community education, etc.), professionals deploy different practices without public action coordinating the whole. With the acceleration of administrative “dematerialisation”, the fact that different professional groups are involved in the same task of supporting online procedures becomes concrete. During the first Covid-19 lockdown, they mobilised to set up the “Solidarité Numérique” call center. Based on research structured around a socio-historical approach, interviews with professionals involved in this platform and observations of their chat conversations, this article shows the cross-structuring of two particularly involved professional groups : digital mediation and administrative mediation. Digital mediation, in search of recognition, sees its stabilisation largely threatened, while administrative mediation, under construction, is rather reinforced.
