The bad girls undid the delusive lure, exposing the unbridgeable gap between the subject and its fantasy through their performances. Nowadays, women in contemporary art address the issues of the regressive fantasy and the place of the scopic drive: the bad girl has passed the baton to a little girl who wishes to be interchangeable—when she does not think of herself as Alice (which Freud would consider as uncanny)—before ending up with voices . . . “Talk, we are listening.”
