The History of Science and the History of Publishing – How can they complement each other?

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2018. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This paper introduces a special issue of Philosophia Scientiæ and provides a view of the dialogue between the history of the book and publishing and the history of science and technology. Despite their common interests and a few existing studies on the subject, these two fields are still mostly disconnected. We shed some light on this tension between these two fields with the aim of promoting the development of a more interdisciplinary dialogue. The history of the book and publishing on the one hand and the history of science and technology on the other hand have individually already studied certain material aspects related to the manufacture of (scientific) prints but on a separate basis. However, alternative approaches, methods, and topics can provide new insights into the way the sciences have developed. The papers of this special issue published by specialists from different disciplines and fields are telling examples.
