Introduction: Parental stress is associated with relationship satisfaction while the latter is associated with sexual satisfaction. Yet few studies have focused on the association between parental stress and sexual satisfaction, which is nonetheless an important aspect of marital relationships. Objective: This study aims to examine the link between parental stress and sexual satisfaction, as well as the role of relationship satisfaction in mothers and fathers. Method: A sample of 579 parents recruited through the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (RQAP) completed self-reported questionnaires online. Results. The results of the regression analyses, carried out using the PROCESS macro (SPSS version 28), indicate that higher levels of parental stress are associated with lower levels of sexual satisfaction resulting from a decrease in relationship satisfaction in both mothers and fathers. Conclusion: These results support the importance of investigating relationship satisfaction in order to better understand and address sexual issues among parents.
