Objectives Lanterne is a sexual violence prevention program that has been implemented in 23 educational settings, targeting children from birth to age 5 in the province of Quebec, Canada. The present study aimed to document the effects of Lanterne training offered to practitioners working with young children in intervention and educational settings. Methods A total of 164 practitioners completed a questionnaire before and after their participation in Lanterne training. Results Positive effects are observed on participants’ knowledge, prejudice-free beliefs, and sense of self-efficacy regarding practices designed to prevent sexual violence, provide sex education, and promote egalitarian relationships among young children. Conclusion The level of proximity that practitioners share with children makes them ideal prevention allies. Lanterne training gives them tools to cover concepts related to sexuality and sexual violence, and to adequately intervene when the safety of a child is compromised.
