Claude Dubar and Pierre Tripier, both sociologists, talk about their commitment path. Their personal narratives appear as typical trajectories of a given generation, one that played an active part in the social and political life of the 70s. They later subscribed to different forms of commitment. Their professional activity became their means of commitment via the creation of a laboratory, after the two sociologists wrote off all other possibilities. First, they are asked to talk about how their commitment informed their work as sociologists throughout their lives – then about how sociology altogether became a new facet of their commitment.
