Consented “Impurity.” Between Aesthetics and Politics: Literary Criticisms on Radio Free Europe
Type de matériel :

Based on an analysis of three radio programs by two literary critics representative of Romanian intellectual exiles in France during the Cold War broadcast on Radio Free Europe and intended for a Romanian audience, this paper reveals a particular pattern of political dedication, sustainable in specific conditions of over-politicization of the literary field. The study of the trajectories of the two broadcasters, the content of the programs, and their consecrating effect in relation to the Romanian literary field shows how art is systematically subjugated to politics in order to reconquer—in the long run and by this very means—the autonomy of the field.
