The responsabilist discourse of managers: An anthropological critique of entrepreneurial and managerial rhetoric

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Whether entrepreneurial or managerial, the issue of responsibility is frequently raised in the media by the leaders of large corporate groups. In their remarks, there may seem to be an equivalence between the intention to “do well” and the desire to “do good.” This paper deconstructs this discourse from the perspective of an ethical reflection on managerial responsibility. It is based on rhetorical analysis of eleven leaders’ interviews with media that the general public can access. To examine what is said and what is unspoken within the responsibilist discourse, it relies on an interdisciplinary approach that brings management research into a dialogue with Aristotle’s classical philosophy, but also with the contemporary contributions of sociology, psychoanalysis, and religious studies.
