Le Groupement agricole d’exploitation en commun, « exception française » en Europe, établi depuis près d’un demi-siècle, présente aujourd’hui des signes de désuétude tant les références utilisées sont dépassées. Mais la démarche pour le construire, reste intemporelle. Le Gaec ne résulte pas de la réflexion d’intellectuels sur le monde moderne, mais de la pratique de jeunes agriculteurs qui, exerçant leur liberté de pensée, ont imaginé une forme originale de production correspondant aux transformations en cours. Leur attitude est aujourd’hui d’une brûlante actualité.

Agricultural entreprises regrouped into a single organization entity named “GAEC” (Groupement Agricole d’Exploitation en Commun) is a “french exception” in Europe, which has been established for nearly half a century. Nowadays it shows signs of obsolescence so much the used references are passed beyond. But the process to build it stays no temporal. The “GAEC” does not result from the reflexion of intellectuals on the modern world, but from the day-to-day practice of young farmers who, experiencing their freedom of thinking, have imagined a singular and original way of production that meets current transformations. Their attitude is today of a stinging actuality.
