L’arrivée au pouvoir en France et en Espagne du Front populaire et la guerre civile espagnole impriment une nouvelle dynamique à l’opposition portugaise en exil, composée désormais de républicains, anarchistes et communistes. L’ambiance propice au rassemblement favorise la constitution à Paris du Comité d’action du Front populaire portugais, pour servir de socle à un mouvement plus large et extensible à l’opposition de l’intérieur. Cependant, ce Comité, à caractère trop républicain, ne correspond pas encore aux aspirations des communistes, qui tenteront d’en prendre le contrôle. Dans ce contexte, si le Comité d’action se veut un mouvement unitaire, les différents courants politiques mèneront une activité parallèle. Cet article portera un regard sur le rôle du Comité d’action du FPP et les relations qui s’établissent entre les courants, et dans lesquelles les républicains jouent le rôle de chef d’orchestre.

The coming to the power of the Popular Fronts in France and Spain and the consequent Spanish Civil War print a new dynamic to the Portuguese opposition in exile, now comprised by republicans, anarchists and communists. The enabling environment for the unity of the opposition allows the creation in Paris of the Action Committee of the Portuguese Popular Front, to serve as the basis of a broader movement of common front against dictatorship and extended to the interior’s opposition. However, this Committee pronouncedly Republican does not correspond to the Communist’s expectations, who will try to take control. Thus, although the Action Committee presents itself as a unitary movement, the different political currents will develop an own activity in a parallel mode. This article interesting will be the role of the Action Committee of the PPF and the relationship between the currents that in the center of which are the Republicans.

A chegada ao poder das Frentes Populares em França e Espanha e a consequente guerra civil espanhola imprimem uma nova dinâmica à oposição portuguesa no exílio, composta doravante por republicanos, anarquistas e comunistas. O ambiente propício à unidade da oposição permite a constituição em Paris do Comité de Acção da Frente Popular Portuguesa, para servir de base a um movimento mais alargado de frente comum contra a ditadura e extensível à oposição do interior. No entanto, este Comité, pronunciadamente republicano, não corresponde às expectativas dos comunistas, que tentarão tomar o seu controle. Assim, e ainda que o Comité de Acção se apresente como um movimento unitário, as diferentes correntes políticas desenvolverão uma actividade própria e de modo paralelo. O presente artigo interessar-se-á ao papel desempenhado pelo Comité de Acção da FPP e às relações estabelecidas entre as correntes, no centro das quais se encontram os republicanos.
