RésuméLa colonisation, très présente dans la mémoire collective, est marginale dans nos études historiques. Pourtant, générations de spécialistes et thèmes se renouvellent. Ce paysage contrasté incite à s’interroger sur les caractères du champ d’études. L’analyse, focalisée sur trois moments – décolonisations, années 1980, années actuelles – présente les controverses ainsi que les chantiers qui s’ouvrent. Comment intégrer la colonisation dans une discipline très hexagonaliste et développer les échanges avec les chercheurs étrangers, en particulier ceux du « Sud » sur une histoire de plus en plus commune ?

The question of colonisation, ever present in our collective memory, nevertheless receives only marginal attention in our historical studies, despite new generations of specialists and research topics. This contrasting landscape leads us to question the characteristics of this field of study. The analysis focuses on three periods – decolonisation, the 1980s and the contemporary period – introducing the controversies as well as the research areas that are opening up. How can the question of colonisation be incorporated into a highly French-oriented discipline and develop discussion with foreign researchers, especially those from the « South », regarding our increasingly common history ?
