‪Dietmar Dath est un auteur intellectuel, tourné vers la connaissance, qui a beaucoup réfléchi à sa propre écriture. Il s’agit ici de retracer et d’éclairer sa conception de la littérature et plus précisément du genre qui est le sien, la science-fiction, en nous appuyant sur des citations parlantes, tirées principalement de ses propres écrits, Niegeschichte et Stehsatz ainsi que de son roman programmatique Feldeváye , Roman der letzten Künste. Je m’intéresserai tout d’abord aux caractéristiques que Dath attribue à la littérature en général et qu’il considère comme importantes pour sa propre écriture, puis aux caractéristiques propres au genre fantastique et plus spécialement à la science-fiction ; j’aborderai ensuite brièvement ses « leçons d’écriture », et pour finir, je me demanderai comment il convient de situer l’auteur. Il en ressort que Dath est un auteur réflexif qui pose des questions philosophiques et s’appuie sur la science, contrairement à ceux qui s’intéressent avant tout au divertissement, au suspense, aux aventures et à l’action. C’est pourquoi il s’inscrit dans la tendance du roman futuriste initiée par Kurd Laßwitz, et poursuivie par Alfred Döblin, Ernst Jünger, Arno Schmidt et Herbert W. Franke.‪

‪Dietmar Dath is an intellectual author oriented to cognition who has often thought about his own writing. This essay seeks to reconstruct and elucidate his view of literature and of his particular genre science fiction with meaningful quotations, particularly from his Niegeschichte (never story), Stehsatz ( printing set) and his programmatic Feldeváye, novel of the last artS. I will first discuss characteristics that Dath ascribes to literature in general and that are important to the author’s own writing, then those that pertain to the fantastic and science fiction in particular; then briefly address his “Schreiblehre” (writing theory) and at the end draw conclusions for the classification of the author. It turns out that Dath is a reflective, philosophical, and science-oriented science fiction writer as opposed to those who are primarily interested in entertainment, suspense, adventure, and action. He therefore belongs in the line of German science fiction, which began with Kurd Laßwitz and was continued with, for example, Alfred Döblin, Ernst Jünger, Arno Schmidt and Herbert W. Franke.‪

Dietmar Dath ist ein intellektueller und an Erkenntnis orientierter Autor, der vielfach über sein eigenes Scheiben nachgedacht hat. In diesem Aufsatz soll mit sprechenden Zitaten, besonders aus seiner Niegeschichte, Stehsatz und dem programmatischen Roman Feldeváye. Roman der letzten Künste, seine Ansicht von der Literatur und seinem speziellen Genre, der Science-Fiction, rekonstruiert und erhellt werden. Ich werde zunächst Merkmale erörtern, welche Dath der Literatur überhaupt zuweist und die dem Autor für sein eigenes Schreiben wichtig sind, dann solche, die die Fantastik und speziell die Science-Fiction betreffen; danach seine „Schreiblehre“ kurz ansprechen und am Schluss daraus Folgerungen für die Einordnung des Autors ziehen. Es ergibt sich, dass Dath ein reflektierender, philosophischer und an der Wissenschaft orientierter Autor der Science-Fiction ist im Gegensatz zu denen, die vor allem an Unterhaltung, Spannung, Abenteuern und Aktionen interessiert sind. Er gehört deshalb in die Linie des deutschen Zukunftsromans, der mit Kurd Laßwitz begann und z.B. mit Alfred Döblin, Ernst Jünger, Arno Schmidt und Herbert W. Franke fortgesetzt wurde.
