‪L’article étudie la revue littéraire suisse hortulus (1951-1964), dirigée pendant plus de dix ans par Hans Rudolf Hilty. Elle était considérée comme un « bastion de l’avant-garde de l'époque », ce qui ne semble plus évident aujourd’hui. Il s’agit donc de décrire la revue comme un biotope littéraire de la modernité d’après-guerre et de comprendre en même temps comment s’y est forgée une nouvelle conception de la poésie progressiste et avant-gardiste. Davantage que sur les textes publiés, l’accent est mis ici sur le discours cadre qui a conduit Hilty à justifier et à légitimer son entreprise.‪

‪The study deals with the Swiss literary magazine hortulus (1951-1964), which was run by Hans Rudolf Hilty for over ten years. It was regarded as a “bastion of the avant-garde” at the time, which no longer seems self-evident from today’s perspective. The magazine will therefore be described as a literary biotope of post-war modernism and at the same time it will be traced how a new understanding of progressive and avant-garde poetry emerged in it. The focus is less on the published texts than on the accompanying discourse that Hilty used to justify and legitimise his enterprise.‪

Der Beitrag behandelt die von Hans Rudolf Hilty über zehn Jahre geführte Schweizer Literatur-Zeitschrift hortulus (1951-1964). Sie galt als „Bastion der damaligen Avantgarde“, was aus heutiger Sicht nicht mehr selbstverständlich erscheint. Die Zeitschrift soll deshalb als literarisches Biotop der Nachkriegs-Moderne beschrieben und zugleich soll nachvollzogen werden, wie sich in ihr ein neues Verständnis progressiver und avantgardistischer Dichtung hervorbildete. Der Fokus richtet sich dabei weniger auf die publizierten Texte als auf den begleitenden Rahmendiskurs, der Hilty zur Begründung und Legitimierung seines Unternehmens führte.
