De 1940 à 1944, des millions de dessins réalisés par les enfants de France sont envoyés à Pétain pour lui témoigner admiration et dévouement. Certains d’entre eux représentent la figure du Maréchal et respectent tous la charte iconographique diffusée par la propagande : tenue militaire, couleurs nationales, et les valeurs « Travail, Famille, Patrie ». Ces écoliers ont parfaitement intégré les symboles de la Révolution nationale, ils dressent le portrait du corps politique de la Nation, mais aussi celui, vieillissant, du grand-père de la France.

Between 1940 and 1944, millions of drawings by French children were sent to Pétain to express their admiration and devotion. Some of them depicted the figure of the Marshal, and all respected the iconographic charter disseminated by propaganda: military uniform, national colors, and the values of “Work, Family, Homeland.” These schoolchildren have perfectly integrated the symbols of the National Revolution, and are portraying the political body of the Nation, as well as the aging grandfather of France.
