This e-book presents the case for accountants studying cities. It is based on a collection of papers offered for presentation at a New Public Sector seminar at the University of Edinburgh, November 2008. The first and second papers address the topics of visualizing the city, the emergence of the calculable city, and governing the calculable city. The third paper sets out the research design in the form of a case study approach, with the fourth paper examining the research results from our case study. The final paper presents concluding comments and sets out a research agenda for future study.
