À partir d’un terrain ethnographique réalisé dans cinq prisons françaises au sortir du deuxième confinement national lié à la crise sanitaire de la Covid‑19, cet article propose un éclairage sur l’expérience carcérale en régime pandémique. En mobilisant les concepts d’information et de communication, traditionnellement travaillés par les sciences du même nom, et en les intégrant à la démarche anthropologique, il analyse les inflexions dans l’économie interactionnelle au sein des établissements pénitentiaires durant cette période. La saturation médiatique à laquelle la population carcérale a alors été soumise, le bricolage individuel et collectif de « dispositifs » pour faire face à la crise dans l’urgence, les collaborations nouvelles rendues nécessaires par le contexte, y ont mis à l’épreuve les manières de faire et de croire, tout en en générant d’autres, alternatives. Dans la perspective d’une anthropologie critique et engagée, le texte interroge le sens et la durabilité de ce mode d’exister en pandémie.

‪Based on ethnographic fieldwork in five French prisons at the end of the second national lockdown during the Covid‑19 health crisis, this article sheds light on everyday prison life during the pandemic. Mobilising the concepts of information and communication and integrating them into an anthropological approach, it analyses the changes in the interactional economy within prison establishments during this period. Confronting media saturation surrounding the prison population, the ‪ ‪bricolage‪‪ of individual and collective systems in emergency response to the crisis, necessary collaborations considering the context, put ways of doing and believing to the test, all while generating other alternatives. From the perspective of a critical and engaged anthropology, this article questions the meaning and the longevity of this way of existing in the pandemic.‪
