RésuméLa méthodologie des essais thérapeutiques est bien établie dans les pathologies somatiques. Est-ce aussi le cas en psychiatrie et en particulier en psychiatrie de l’adolescent ? Quatre points méthodologiques clés relatifs à l’évaluation de toute thérapeutique seront successivement abordés : quelles sont les thérapeutiques à comparer ? Quels sont les patients inclus ? Comment évaluer l’efficacité des thérapeutiques ? Comment assurer la comparabilité des groupes de traitement ? Nous verrons ainsi que l’évaluation des thérapeutiques en psychiatrie relève en première approximation de la même méthodologie que celle utilisée pour comparer les thérapeutiques en médecine somatique. Des similitudes particulièrement fortes peuvent notamment être trouvées avec les approches utilisées pour l’évaluation des prises en charge chirurgicales.

Psychiatry of the adolescent : therapeutic effectiveness called into questionThe methodology of therapeutic trials is well-established in somatic pathologies. Is this also the case in psychiatry, and in particular, the psychiatry of the adolescent? Four key methodological points relating to the evaluation of any therapy will be examined successively: what are the therapies to be compared? Which patients are included? How do we evaluate the effectiveness of the therapies? How can we ensure that the treatment groups are comparable? In this way we will see that the evaluation of therapies in psychiatry has, in the first approximation, to do with the same methodology that is used to compare therapies in somatic medicine. Especially strong similarities can be found, for example, with approaches used for the evaluation of surgical treatments.
