La Hongrie, seul pays à avoir connu une République socialiste juste après la révolution d’octobre, a également été durant les années 1950 jusqu’aux années 1980 le lieu d’une riche production marxiste. À mi-chemin entre le témoignage et l’analyse historique, cet article revient notamment sur l’introduction de l’œuvre d’Isaac Deutscher en Hongrie et plus généralement sur la redécouverte de Lénine et des premières années du régime soviétique. L’auteur, qui a publié une biographie de Lénine, propose également un regard plus global sur la période dite du « socialisme réel » et les raisons de sa décomposition.

Halfway between testimony and historical analysis, this article notably looks back at the introduction of the work of Isaac Deutscher in Hungary and more generally at the rediscovery of Lenin and the first years of the Soviet regime. The author, who published a biography of Lenin, also offers a more global look at the period said of « real socialism » and the reasons for its breakdown.
