Kierkegaard a un rapport intrinsèque à la dialectique ; il se qualifie de poète-dialecticien. Il occupe un lieu singulier dans la famille dialectique, notamment par rapport à Platon et à Hegel. De même il se distingue des romantiques, dont il est parfois proche. Il élabore une dialectique paradoxale qui se réfère finalement au paradoxe absolu, une dialectique où le paradoxe est à la fois l’objet et le sujet de la pensée.

Kierkegaard and the Dialectic. A Poet-DialecticianKierkegaard’s relation to dialectic is intrinsic: he calls himself a « poet-dialectician ». Kierkegaard holds a special place in the dialectical school, particularly with regard to Plato and Hegel. Similarly, he is clearly different from the Romantics to whom he is sometimes close. He develops a paradoxical dialectic finally referring to the absolute paradox – when the paradox is in the same time object and subject of the thinking.
