À partir de la prise en charge d’un patient en particulier, Louis V., deux professeurs de médecine navale ont entrepris une remise en question du rapport entre technique et effets thérapeutiques d’un cas d’hystérie grave. En marge des débats de leur époque (1880-1900) sur cette pathologie, les doublements de personnalité et l’hypnotisme, Henri Bourru et Prosper F. Burot « inventent » la psychothérapie au sens d’une cure de la personnalité prenant en compte un Inconscient dans le flux de l’histoire du sujet. C’est de cette situation carrefour dont nous allons tenter de rendre compte ici.

From the taking care of a specific patient, called Louis V., two teatchers of Naval Medecine have undertaken an alternative about the link between the thechnique and therapeutic effectivity with a wrong hysterical case. The margins of the debates of their time (1880-1900) about this pathology, doubling of personnality and hypnotisme, Henri Bourru and Prosper F. Burot « create » psychotherapy as a personnality cure taking into account an inconscious caught in the flow of the subject’s history. It is this crossroads situation that we will try to account here.
