Cet article s’intéresse aux migrations françaises vers le Maroc. Aux « expatriés » mandatés par leurs États ou leurs entreprises, vivant à distance de la société locale et bénéficiant de privilèges socio-économiques institutionnellement garantis, se substituent des migrants, issus des classes moyennes, en partie affaiblies en France, qui négocient eux-mêmes, sans médiateur institutionnel ou économique, les conditions de leur mobilité. Cet article décrit les itinéraires de ces Français, les circonstances qui impulsent leur mobilité ainsi que les conditions dans lesquelles elles s’opèrent. Il met en évidence les conditions d’informalité qui marquent certaines de leurs expériences au Maroc ainsi que leur inscription dans un espace-temps transnational.

This paper focuses on French migration towards Morocco. The “expats” – posted in the country by their State or company, living at a distance from the local society and benefiting from institutionally guaranteed socioeconomic privileges – have made way for the “migrants” coming from the weakened middle classes in France and negotiating the conditions of their mobility themselves, without any institutional or economic mediator. This article describes the trajectories of these migrants, the circumstances that prompt their move, and the conditions within which it takes place. It highlights the informal conditions which characterise their experiences in Morocco, and their position within a transnational space-time.
