Il y a cinquante ans, mourait Henri Piéron, dont la mémoire est encore vivace par les institutions qu’il a fondées ou contribué à créer, entre autres, l’Institut de psychologie, l’Institut national d’orientation professionnelle, la bibliothèque qui porte son nom et une activité scientifique intense dans la recherche, l’enseignement et l’application d’une « psychologie objective », qu’il caractérisait comme ayant renoncé à l’étude de l’homme total pour celle des fonctions isolées, permettant, selon lui, d’établir des lois. Il était également un ami du Bulletin de psychologie, qui lui consacra, d’ailleurs, un numéro spécial d’hommage en 1951 et qui ne pouvait omettre d’accompagner cet anniversaire.Après une présentation, où sont brièvement résumées la vie, l’œuvre et la personnalité d’Henri Piéron, Michel Huteau et Serge Blanchard, Serge Nicolas, Annick Ohayon et Thérèse Charmasson proposent une vision contemporaine d’une œuvre et d’un homme, à qui la psychologie doit, en partie, son indépendance.
