RésuméCet article cherche à clarifier les relations entre trois questions : celle de la mondialisation, celle du travail et celle du genre. Dans un premier temps sont distinguées quatre formes principales de mondialisation, et est discutée la question de sa nouveauté, ainsi que celle de savoir si le travail lui-même est mondialisé. L’article développe ensuite la relation travail-genre-mondialisation : la mondialisation transforme de façon différenciée selon le genre le rapport au travail ; mais, en retour, les formes de la mondialisation sont étroitement dépendantes des rapports de genre au travail. Pour finir est examinée la question de la pérennité d’une mondialisation qui s’alimente de la prédation d’une sphère domestique qu’elle sature et épuise.

Globalization, work and gender: an outworn dialecticThis article seeks to clarify the relations between three questions: globalization, work and gender. Initially four principal forms of globalization are distinguished; the question of its novelty is discussed, as well as the question of the globalization of work itself. The article then develops the work-globalization-gender relationship: globalization transforms the relationship to work in a gender-differentiated way; but, in return, the forms of globalization are closely dependent on the gender relationship to work. Finally there is an examination of the question of the lasting nature of a globalization that is nourished by the domestic sphere on which it feeds, which it saturates and wears out.
