L’homosexualité est un des sujets les plus controversés de la psychologie analytique. Les trois hypothèses proposées par Jung pour tenter de rendre compte de l’homosexualité posent des problèmes théoriques. L’hypothèse la plus répandue concernant l’identification avec l’archétype contra-sexuel (l’anima / l’animus) soulève des problèmes majeurs quant aux mécanismes d’identification et d’individuation. En fait, il semble bien que Jung ait confondu les catégories de sexe, de genre et l’orientation sexuelle.

Homosexuality is one of the most controversial subjects in analytic psychology. Jung suggested three hypotheses to account for homosexuality, but they are all flawed to some degree. The most widespread hypothesis, concerning identification with the contrasexual archetype (anima or animus), raises major problems related to the mechanisms of identification and individuation. Actually, it looks as though Jung confused the categories of sex, gender, and sexual orientation.
