Le « devenir mère » est un long travail intérieur qui fait appel aux expériences de l’enfance, surtout celles liées à la mère. Lorsque la mort vient emporter ce modèle maternel durant l’enfance, comment celle-ci impacte le vécu subjectif de la grossesse et de la maternité ? Nous avons rencontré une jeune femme durant sa seconde grossesse et nous avons pu relever l’impact de ce deuil sur l’investissement de la maternité et de l’enfant à partir d’un entretien semi-directif et d’un Rorschach. Nous proposons de réfléchir aux enjeux de la prise en charge pour l’enfant endeuillé, car l’expérience de la mort maternelle peut impacter sur la construction de son identité, y compris dans sa facette parentale.

The process of “becoming a mother” is a long inner task that draws on the experiences of childhood, especially those linked to the mother. When death undermines this maternal model during childhood, what impact does it have on the subjective experience of pregnancy and maternity ? We met a young woman during her second pregnancy and were able to note the impact of such a bereavement on her capacity to invest maternity and the child by using a semi-directive interview and a Rorschach test. We propose to reflect on the issues at stake in caring for the child in mourning, for the child’s experience of the mother’s death can have an impact on the construction of his/her identity, including its parental aspects.
