Cet article consiste en un exercice réflexif qui prend appui sur quelques travaux ayant ponctué un chemin de recherche axé sur une tentative de compréhension des effets du monde du travail sur les salariés. Le regard ne se porte pas sur les résultats obtenus mais sur la manière de les produire. En ce sens, il se veut réflexion épistémologique sur la pertinence heuristique des relations causales qui innervent les appareillages constitués pour penser la thématique. Posant à chaque fois les limites de la démarche, le texte interroge l’adéquation des enchaînements causatifs aux visées explicatives. Il suggère ainsi d’introduire de la circularité dans les schémas de pensée empreints de causalité linéaire. Ne présupposant pas a priori l’existence d’une relation symbiotique entre la matière et la pensée qui l’appréhende, cette contribution invite à considérer à nouveau frais les registres temporels qui innervent les cadres théoriques à travers lesquels sont conçus les processus de socialisation.

This article consists in a reflective exercise drawing on a number of studies carried out during research work aimed at gaining a better understanding the effects of the world of work on employees. The focus is not on the results obtained but rather on the manner in which they are produced. In this sense it claims to be an epistemological reflection on the heuristic pertinence of the causal relations that innervate the theoretical frameworks constituted for thinking about the thematic area. Setting out at each step the limits of the approach, the text examines the fit between the causal connections and the explanatory aims. It thus suggests introducing circularity into the schemas of thought borrowed from linear causality. Not assuming a priori the existence of a symbiotic relationship between matter and the thought that apprehends it, this contribution invites us to consider once again the temporal registers innervating the theoretical frameworks by means of which the processes of socialization are conceived.
