The aim of this article is to give an idea of the research dealing with the experience, perception or emotional effects of “ethnic” or “racial” forms of discrimination, based on statistical surveys. After a reminder of how interest in the perception of discrimination represents a change of perspective in research on the subject, and a brief review of some of the lessons that can be drawn from this research, we then present some important findings that have emerged from analyses based on three French statistical surveys.
