L’objet de cet article est de tester deux méthodes de recensement permettant d’offrir une représentation de la géographie de la fermeture résidentielle avec contrôle des accès en France. La première est basée sur une identification (sites Web des promoteurs) des programmes immobiliers en cours de commercialisation qui peuvent être considérés comme fermés avec contrôle des accès. La deuxième est un recensement des annonces de logements mis en vente ou proposés à la location compris dans un ensemble fermé et/ou sécurisé. La géographie esquissée est marquée par l’ubiquité et la discrimination territoriale au profit du sud. Quelques pistes sont explorées pour comprendre ces logiques géographiques.

A geography of residential enclosure in France. What inventory methods for what kind of representation of the phenomenon ? The aim of this paper is to test out two inventory methods that can be used to establish a representation of the geography of residential enclosure with access control in France. The first inventory tool is based on the identification - in promoters’ web-sites - of the real estate programs currently on the market which can be considered as gated and provided with control of access. The second method gathers classified advertisements for housing (on sale or for rent), located in a gated and/or secured residence. The geography outline that emerges is marked by ubiquity and territorial discrimination (with a higher concentration in the south of France). Some hypotheses are explored to gain an understanding of the geographical logic of this trend in France.
