‪This study examines the construction of the State through territorial organization. It seeks to understand how the State in Cameroon deploys itself by creating administrative units through territorial division. In so doing, the State does not only divide, but also marks its presence on its territory. It also establishes disciplinary structures that ensure the security and regulation of the flow of people from one administrative district to another. We need to understand that this territorial mesh is not absolute, however, as the boundaries of administrative districts and traditional command units continually overlap. It also appears that the desire to control the territory is influenced by social dynamics and cultural constraints.‪

Cette étude examine la construction de l’État à travers l’organisation du territoire. Elle cherche à comprendre comment l’État se déploie en créant des unités administratives par le biais du découpage territorial. En procédant ainsi, l’État marque sa présence sur son territoire. La fabrique du territoire s’opère également par l’établissement des structures disciplinaires qui assurent la sécurité et la régulation du flux populationnel d’une circonscription administrative à une autre. Ce maillage territorial n’est pas homogène en raison du chevauchement entre les limites des circonscriptions administratives et celles des unités de commandement traditionnel. Aussi, il appert que cette volonté de maîtriser le territoire est influencée par des dynamiques sociales et des contraintes culturelles.
