Malgré les phénomènes sociaux nouveaux liés aux théories du genre et aux développements technologiques de l’érotisme, la psychanalyse constate que le symptôme de l’inconscient demeure lié au réel du sexe comme trou produit par la prise du sujet dans le langage. Le traitement du symptôme sous transfert est un traitement qui se fait par la voie dissonante du symptôme, il ne peut être normatif. La cure conduit à un savoir sur l’effaçon du sujet, c’est-à-dire sur les façons dont un sujet tente d’obturer le trou du non rapport sexuel par le recours à l’objet du fantasme. Le symptôme est en dernière instance ce qui s’écrit du réel du sexe puisqu’il relève de l’inconscient savoir.
