Identité et appartenance sont souvent confondues et les distinguer permet de penser autrement la nécessaire question du « moment fécond » (Kαιpos) qu’est l’adolescence et de ses aléas éventuellement pathologiques. Une analyse de la notion d’identité introduira la réflexion, suivie d’une transition sur celle de continuité chère à Winnicott. Dans une double perspective existentielle et psychanalytique, cette question sera mise à l’épreuve de la psychose, qui est aux prises avec la rencontre de soi et de l’Autre, à l’aide d’un exemple clinique.
