Les manifestations du vieillissement s’annoncent habituellement avant toute autre manifestation physique. Ce phénomène modifiant la façon dont nous nous percevons, nous contraint à évoluer dans nos relations avec nous-mêmes, et avec les autres. Ainsi la question de notre place dans la vie familiale et sociale est relancée. Ces premières modifications physiques marquant aussi le temps qui passe, nous en font prendre conscience, et posent la question de notre finitude et de la mort. À travers des exemples cliniques, nous détaillons les façons dont ces questions peuvent s’enchevêtrer selon l’histoire de chacun.

The signs of ageing usually manifest themselves before any otherphysical indications. This phenomenon modifies our perception of ourselves and so forces us to change in our relationship with ourselves and with others. In this way, the question of our place in family and social life comes to the fore again. These first physical changes, which also mark the passage of time, make us aware of this fact and raise the question of our finite nature and death. Using clinical examples, we set out the different ways in which thesequestions can interweave according to each person’s life history.
