En rendant visible à travers la théorie des fonctions de Bion, la construction de l’« appareil à penser les pensées » de l’enfant issu de la relation qui s’établit avec sa figure maternante, l’auteure effectue un parallèle entre deux types de relation – mère/nourrisson et enfant/animal –, en mettant en évidence que lorsque la relation qui s’établit entre un jeune enfant et un animal est motivée par le désir mutuel de connaître quelque chose de l’autre, elle permet à l’enfant d’enrichir sa capacité à s’inscrire dans le monde qui l’entoure, capacité entendue comme rapport au savoir.

Using W.R. Bion’s theory of functions to illustrate the construction of the child’s “thought-thinking apparatus” as a result of the relationship established with his mother figure, the author draws a parallel between the mother/infant and child/animal relationship, highlighting that when the relationship established between a young child and an animal is motivated by the desire to gain mutual knowledge, it enables the child to enrich its ability to own inscription in the world around, an ability understood as a relationship to knowledge.
