L’auteur soulève le problème de l’addiction psychique aux nouvelles technologies et interroge la signification de celle-ci dans le transfert lorsqu’elle survient en cours de thérapie. Le dispositif du site de rencontre encourage l’illusion d’un réaménagement des relations amoureuses, à la suite d’un certain clivage des mouvements psychiques. Le passage à la réalité se révèle difficile lorsqu’il faut abandonner les mécanismes de déni et d’idéalisation mis en place. À la faveur d’un cas clinique l’auteur tente de montrer le fonctionnement des mécanismes psychiques impliqués dans ce type de quête. Il conclut que s’il existe des couples « réussis » et durables après une rencontre sur Internet, c’est qu’ils ont effectué un solide travail d’élaboration autour des effets du décloisonnement entre l’objet virtuel et l’objet réel sur leurs fantasmes et expectatives.

FROM THE VIRTUAL IDEAL TO THE REAL OTHER The author raises the problem of psychic addiction to the new technologies and questions the meaning thereof in transfer when it arises during therapy. On-line dating fosters the illusion of a re-arrangement of amorous relations, following on from a certain split in psychic movements. The switch to reality proves to be difficult when you have to relinquish already established mechanisms of denial and idealisation. Through a clinical case, we seek to show how the psychic mechanisms involved in this type of quest work. The author concludes that if there are « successful » and sustainable couples that follow on from an Internet encounter, this is because they have done some real work building things up around the effects the barriers between the virtual object and the real object being broken down with respect to their phantasms and expectations.
