Places named after a writer. The toponymy between patrimonial tribute and touristic leverage (nineteenth-twentieth centuries)
Type de matériel :
24
The paper deals with anthroponyms derived from names of authors. It particularly analyses one specific trend which, nowadays, consists in writing narratives about these toponyms according to a logic based on branding touristic places of cultural heritage. Two situations will be investigated: the example of Veules-les-Roses and the one of Cabourg, two Norman sea resorts which respectively promote themselves through Victor Hugo on the one hand, on Marcel Proust on the other, in a region that claims its literary identity.
