The historiography of relations between France and the French part of Canada points to a hollow period in these relations during the period between the British conquest of 1763 and the Franco-Quebec diplomatic revival of the 1960s. Through the analysis of written testimonies, this article tries to demonstrate how the presence of thousands of French Canadians in France during the First World War (from 1915 to 1919) was an opportunity for a great reunion on a human scale between these French Canadians and a part of the French population.
