On the French commitment in Czechoslovakia: The case of Jan Hus Association in the 1980s

To keep a free university alive despite the censorship imposed by the Czechoslovak authorities, some Czech intellectuals give private philosophy seminar in their own apartments. Warned by their situation, a few French people create the Jan Hus Association in 1981 in order to support them. Thus they regularly travel to Czechoslovakia to participate in the lectures, but also to provide material support to their colleagues. This article aims to shed light on the commitment of these French people to a cause that was not well-known at the time.
