This research explores the content, the structure and the organization of the social representation of globalization, according to different national memberships and the positions about it. An anlysis of the “hierarchical evocations” (Vergès, 1992; Abric, 2003) and of similitude (Flament, 1981), bearing on a set of associative answers to an evocation question from an inductive term indicating globalization, has been carried out in a structural approach of social representations (Abric, 1976; 1987) The survey was conducted in 2003 among 503 students from six cities of five different countries.We observe, as for the content, which has an average degree of organization, that certain elements of the representation refer to reference frames which can be interpreted by the light of characteristics specific to certain countries or cities and, above all, to different takings up of positions, to which seems to correspond a bigger coherence of the meaning of the elements. The results show, in other respects, the existence of transnational concerns that express salient elements and topics in the organisation of the representation.
