A feminist history of the psychologization of violence
Type de matériel :
97
Based on research on the history of North American feminist psychology, this article discusses how the work of feminist psychologists is being used to expose violence against women and to advocate for public policies to address such violence. In a context where the psychological effects of the oppression of women have clearly been established, the aim is to review the history of the process leading to the politicization of psychology, of which we now sometimes seem to consider only the most conservative elements. The case of psychological approaches to violence against women also sheds light more generally on the issues involved in qualifying a process as “psychologization”.
