Through the journey of Muslim women belonging to the middle and bourgeois classes of N’Djamena, this article aims to grasp the multiple reappropriations of the Islamic marker, used as a strategy for social mobility and class reproduction. The reference to Islam then substantially loses its capacity to be a specifically religious project and becomes not a totalizing practice but one that is plastic to individual contexts and strategies.
