The author offers a clinical view on an institutional and social dimension of an analytical cure taking place in a classic mental institution. He shows how social and psychopathological alienations, important to J. Oury, mix and become the actual matter of the analysis in cases where this type of work is normally deemed impossible. A certain number of clinical concepts become redefined. Indeed, the process of acting out may be on behalf of the institution and may be a way of appropriating the patient’s symptom. However, thanks to the interpretation and the help of the analytical act, which no longer only takes place in the cure, the violence of this hold can also be reworked in the cure as an unconscious object of a deadly enjoyment belonging to each individual.
