In Ancient Greece, there is something religious about the cult that the ‘good’ man devotes to his land. As it is one of the goods that the gods have provided him with, he has to make it bear fruit without denaturing it, in order to fulfil his destiny. The earth dictates its conditions to the man who serves it. By dint of renewed care and attention, he becomes so imbued with the needs of his land that in the end they become one. As he sees his land prosper, the joy felt by the owner is complete. Having responded to the hope placed in them, he and his land no longer live simply under the gaze of the gods but in harmony with them.
