The author, who is the director of a social children’s home (MECS), conducted research on management positions within these institutions as part of a thesis in education and training sciences. This article reports on some of the hypotheses that emerged from the research, which was based on analyzing the speech of the four directors she interviewed. These hypotheses relate to the directors’ relationship to time, and more specifically their relationship to limits. To deepen this question, the author uses the theorizations of Jean Cournut, who develops the processes at work in subjects who tend toward excess in the erasure of limits.
