The concept of “counter-love,” taken from Plato, is intended to throw light on libido’s destiny and the shift from endogamy to exogamy. Parental love is the condition for the loss of inhibition. This also highlights the difference between transgenerational desire, caused by the structure, and the structure. Similarly, the difference between the love of the mother and that of the father sets out the conditions for the loss of the inhibition. This can affect one’s choice of exogamous object.
