Passion as Sinthome: For a Topology of Amorous Passion

In search of a common theme, capable of encompassing everything psychoanalysts evoke under the concept of amorous passion, the author proposes to define passion using the concept of sinthome, defined by Lacan as “that something” that keeps the subjective structure together despite knotting failures; in other words, despite the flaws in paternal metaphorization. This approach to amorous passion seems to him to be interesting not just in conceptual terms, but also and above all for the clinical approach to such passions.
