Infanticidal Desire, a Common Paradigm of the Maternal Conflict In-Between
Type de matériel :
52
As an echo to the infamous act of infanticide, there is a desire that is altogether ordinary but extremely unbearable: infanticidal desire. This infanticidal desire is neither maternal nor feminine: it perfectly fits in-between these positions and takes the form of a fragmented subjectivity that comes as a mid-term between being and having, attempting a kind of unity through a multifaceted mother-daughter dyad. As the child in flesh and bones undermines the fragile assembly, the maternal infanticidal desire seems then to arise and fill the void born from the child’s body. Through the couple constituted by the mother and the child’s father, who will embody a new while constantly reinvented mother-daughter dyad, she will try to develop her infanticidal desire, unless this attempt fails and triggers the realization of the act of infanticide.
