This work questions a distinctive and little explored aspect of individual psychoanalytic psychodrama: paradoxical bodily sensations that can be experienced by therapists, in connection with their patients’ difficulties at the same level. Based on a clinical experiment with adolescents and a case study, we will take the phenomena of petrification as an example to illustrate this point, to show how it can inform us about the nature of the transference and countertransference phenomena involved in those situations and how they can be transformed in this type of therapeutic approach.
